Adele Stein is more than a classically trained cellist; she is well versed in a broad variety of music, ranging from classical, new, contemporary, pop, hip-hop, rock, jazz, country and metal. She began playing cello at the age of four in her hometown of Salina, Kansas, following in the footsteps of her father and brother. She studied music performance at Arizona State University where she was an active member of countless musical ensembles and thrived in achieving a well-rounded musical palette.
Adele is now a professional freelance musician living with her wife, Tessa, in New York City. She spent most of 2023-2024 performing with Post Malone on his worldwide tour, If Y’all Weren’t Here, I’d Be Crying. And after finishing her six year run with six time Tony award-winning musical “Dear Evan Hansen,” she went on to hold the cello chair at “& Juliet” and “Lempicka” on Broadway. She has had the privilege to record for the Grammy award-winning original Broadway cast recording of “Dear Evan Hansen,” and artists including Sting, Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, Lizzo, Max Richter, Alessia Cara, Sara Bareilles, Bruno Mars, Labrinth, Ben Platt, Lin-Manuel Miranda and many more. She has also toured internationally with several indie bands and was part of the string ensemble for RUSH’s 2012-2013 Clockwork Angels Worldwide Tour.
The film soundtracks she has recorded on include Oscar-winning short Period, End of Sentence; Mother; Gemini Man; Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs the Reverend; Mean Girls 2024; documentary Knife Skills and many other independent films.
Her national broadcast work includes appearances on SNL, Jesus Christ Superstar Live on NBC, The Grammy’s, Live at Lincoln Center, New Amsterdam, The Ellen Show and nighttime talk shows with hosts Jimmy Fallon, James Corden, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Meyers. She continues to build upon her experience in a multitude of genres, touring with a variety of musicians, and strengthening her tenacity and flexibility to perform alongside her contemporaries.
